What is Twilio?

Twilio's PHP SDK is a powerful tool for integrating SMS, voice, and other communication capabilities into your PHP applications. Below is a guide on how to use Twilio's PHP SDK to send an SMS, which can be used for purposes like OTP (One-Time Password) mobile number verification, notifications, and more.

Steps to Send an SMS using Twilio PHP SDK

1. Sign Up for Twilio

  • Go to Twilio and sign up for an account.

  • Obtain your Account SID, Auth Token, and a Twilio phon2e number.

2. Once you have successfully logged into your Twilio account, you need to perform several steps to start using Twilio's services, such as sending SMS.

  • Go to api key & token section.

  • Copy and paste the Account SID and auth token in your code.

3. Install the Twilio PHP SDK

  • Use Composer to install the Twilio PHP SDK. Run the following command in your project directory:

composer require twilio/sdk

4. Send an SMS

  • Create a PHP script to send an SMS. Below is a sample script:

<?php
// Include the autoload file
require __DIR__ . '/vendor/autoload.php';

use Twilio\Rest\Client;

// Your Account SID and Auth Token from twilio.com/console
$sid = 'your_account_sid';
$token = 'your_auth_token';
$twilio_number = 'your_twilio_number';

// Initialize the Twilio client
$client = new Client($sid, $token);

// The phone number you want to send the SMS to
$to_number = '+1234567890';

// The message you want to send
$message = 'Hello, this is a test message from Twilio!';

try {
    // Send the SMS
    $client->messages->create(
        $to_number,
        [
            'from' => $twilio_number,
            'body' => $message
        ]
    );
    echo "Message sent successfully!";
} catch (Exception $e) {
    echo "Failed to send message: " . $e->getMessage();
}
?>
